PYTHAGOREAN THEOREM
What is Pythagorean Theorem?
Pythagorean Theorem or Pythagoras Theorem states, “In a right-angled triangle, the square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides”. This can be expressed as c2 = a2 + b2; where ‘c’ is the hypotenuse and ‘a’ and ‘b’ are the two legs of the triangle.
The Pythagorean theorem can be used to:
- To check if a triangle is right-angled
- To determine the speed of sound in the ocean by oceanographers
- To find the range and sound source by aerospace scientists and meteor
