The Slope is a measure of steepness of line in the coordinate plane. The Slope is calculated as “rise over run” (change in y-coordinate divided by change in x-coordinate).

m = change in y/change in x = Δrise/Δrun

If A(x₁,y₁) and B(x₂,y₂) are the two points on a straight line, then the slope formula is defined as:

m = (y₂ – y₁)/(x₂ – x₁)
